In 1494 the famous German artist Albrecht Dürer traveled to Italy for the first time. The destination of his trip was Venice. Since the Adige Valley was flooded, the artist had to detour after his stay at the Klösterle St. Florian near Neumarkt on the route from Laag to Buchholz. He passed through the gorge of the Laukusbach and crossed the so-called Roman bridge, passed through Buchholz (Salurn), to finally climb the Sauchpass. From there he continued to "Lago Santo" and then descended to Cembra, Faver and the castle of Segonzano until he reached the earth pyramids of Seganzano. During his stay in the castle of Segonzano, some of his famous watercolors were created.
