Those who want to spend their holidays being active in natural surroundings are in exactly the right place here, in and around the Trudner Horn national park. The mountains around Auer, Montan, Neumarkt and Salurn offer various hiking possibilities which will meet all types of requirements. Each hike has its own history and its place in our memory.
In the spring the walking trails in the south of South Tyrol lead you through thriving fruit orchards and through the flat valley, in the summer over high mountains and up to breezy heights, in the autumn through apple groves ready for harvest and slopes packed with vines and in the winter over snow-covered trails through forests and mountain pastures.
Hikes which you definitely should not miss…
Mystical: A hiking trail leads up to the Castelfeder and into a mystical past era. There you can find signs of Stone Age and Bronze Age settlements but also Raetians, Romans and other peoples retreated to this high hill in times of unrest and left their traces there. Walkers and nature lovers can explore the plants and fauna of the biotope on the nature discovery trail and be spellbound by the history that shrouds the place.
Gigantic: The Bletterbach gorge , the South Tyrol canyon is a theme park, an educational site, a natural monument and also, as of June 2009, a UNESCO natural world heritage site. Geological treasures and various landscape formations show you the development of the earth and mankind from unusual perspectives. The layers of earth are between 200 and 300 million years old and the presence of fossilised sea creatures bears witness to an age when the Dolomites were still coral reefs.
Pure nature: Unspoilt nature which you can see, hear, smell and feel. The Trudner Horn national park stretches out across our holiday area. Even very early in the year the sun draws out the sub-Mediterranean flora in the meadows, forests and ponds. There are numerous manned mountain huts inviting you in for a relaxing break and a rustic snack.
The walking area of the Castelfeder holiday region is ideal for those who love exercise as well as for less active walkers and mountain climbers. You are spoilt for choice; one day you may choose a relaxing hiking round trip, another day a demanding excursion to the summit. Enjoy hiking in the unspoilt natural surroundings of the south of South Tyrol!
