Healthy and safe through the South Tyrol Unterland! You should observe the following pointers:
- Adapt your speed to your ability and the particular traffic conditions. Brake in good time.
- Alcohol is also off-limits when cycling.
- Walking trails and footpaths are reserved for pedestrians. Avoid dangerous short cuts and in case of doubt choose the longer, safe way.
- Check your bike regularly and get it inspected by a specialist if necessary. Brakes, lights, weight-bearing parts, tyres and mudguards are essential for your safety.
- Choose appropriate and comfortable clothing. This also includes a crash helmet and sunglasses.
- Bikes are also vehicles. Be just as careful in the saddle as you would be behind the steering wheel and obey all prohibitions and requirements.
- Use cycle paths wherever possible. By doing this, you will avoid many of the sources of danger and will have a more relaxed journey.
- Take note of the particular visibility conditions. You should also switch on your lights in twilight and in fog.
- Stop when you make a phone call or write a text message. The same goes for eating and drinking.
- Anticipate the mistakes of other cyclists. Do not overtake on blind bends and, conversely, try to make it easier for others to overtake you by always riding on the right-hand side.
